Job Description

The Giving Keys is a Pay It Forward company changing lives with inspirational jewelry through their social impact business model. Headquartered in Los Angeles, The Giving Keys employs people transitioning out of homelessness to make and assemble their products. Every product is stamped with an inspirational word like DREAM, CREATE or INSPIRE, and the wearer is encouraged to embrace their word, then Pay It Forward by giving their product to a person who needs the message. Since their incorporation in 2012, The Giving Keys has provided over 150,000 hours of work for people transitioning out of homelessness.

Position Overview:

As the Art Director, you are ready to develop your existing design skills by working with senior creative staff on a range of ambitious and innovative projects. Responsible for helping to drive the creative direction of campaigns, you will be designing brand elements ranging from emails to web content, social media, posters, print, and more.

You possess an understanding of branding, typography, layout, and art direction. Additionally, you are familiar with how design fuels purchasing decisions and translates in the fashion/retail space.

This position interacts with many departments throughout TGK, so you should be comfortable communicating ideas and concepts with senior team members to receive feedback throughout the design process. You report directly to the VP of Marketing & eCommerce, who will provide creative direction and help manage your workflow and priorities. This is an in-house position with some flexibility around which days of the week you will be working.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage quarterly photoshoots for product and lifestyle, including timeline creation, thematic direction, model identification and wardrobing
  • Source competitive bids for photography
  • Act as liaison between TGK and website vendor on creative direction
  • Oversee creative for new site development project
  • Oversee video content creation/production as needed on larger campaigns
  • Design graphic elements for emails, web content, social media, posters, etc.
  • Complete edits to existing brand assets and executing original concepts
  • Participate in creative meetings and contribute design concepts for campaigns
  • Interface with peers and managers in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate change


Minimum Requirements

  • Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • 2-5 Years Design Experience
  • Experience in developing branded assets (i.e. emails, web banners, fliers)
  • Photo editing experience a plus
  • Fashion/retail or agency experience a plus

  • Able to work and thrive in a high-stress environment that has a moderate noise level
  • Able to communicate the mission of TGK with both visual and written content
  • Able to work in an office environment and perform work at a desk for extended periods of time
  • Able to withstand exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust and noise levels present in a typical warehouse environment
