REGINA KLENJOSKI DANCE COMPANY  

Executive Director – Part-Time 

Regina Klenjoski Dance Company seeks an executive director to address the company’s needs in the areas of finance, operations, marketing and fundraising. Candidates should possess strong executive leadership skills and a passion for the arts and dance. This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position to start. 

 About the Organization 

RKDC is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization committed to implementing and advancing the artistic vision of Regina Klenjoski. RKDC is a contemporary dance company, delivering provocative, award-winning dance theater and education programs. Founded in Los Angeles in 1999 by dancer and choreographer Regina Klenjoski, the company creates original dance works that feature collaborations with cutting-edge composers and theatrical artists. The company moved operations to Wichita, KS in 2014 and offers programming in both Los Angeles and Wichita. Please find more information at www.rkdc.org. 

About the Position 

The Executive Director has principal oversight for the day-to-day operations and is responsible for promoting a collaborative and open work environment with high performance standards. He/she reports to Artistic Director Regina Klenjoski. The Executive Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 Financial Management:  

Develop annual budgets to support the organization’s programmatic priorities.  

Maintain accounting systems including invoicing and bookkeeping. 

Prepare monthly financial reports, cash flow projections and forecasts. 

Track budget performance 

Manage all external financial reporting of the organization including grant reports. 

Collect data and update RKDC’s Data Arts profile annually. 

Manage key vendor relationships, including rental venues, insurance providers, donors, and financial institutions   

 Marketing: 

Manage and execute marketing and public relations campaigns for both performances and arts education program in Wichita and Torrance  

Research and analyze marketing/pr possibilities for maximum return on investment and develop media plans. 

Write press releases, e-newsletters, program descriptions, web site copy and other promotional copy. 

Manage the RKDC brand in conjunction with the Artistic Director.  

 Fundraising: 

Working in tandem with the Artistic Director - 

Research sources for grants  

Write grant applications 

Maintain relationships with current funders, including filing reports on grants received  

Generate ideas for donor cultivation and individual donor campaigns.  

Operations:  

Work with the Artistic Director, to ensure that RKDC’s employment policies and reporting are consistent with all rules and regulations governing workers in both the State of Kansas and California. 

Draft/send internal and external communications with board, staff, donors, venders, and business partners. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

The ideal candidate will:  

o Have a bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of three-year’s experience with a nonprofit organization in a management/leadership role;   

o Strong business skills and experience in budgeting, and creating long-term budgets and goals, and financial management;  

o Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize projects, deadlines and organizational needs. 

o Experience and interest in fundraising  

o Have experience and knowledge of marketing, advertising and PR activities, particularly as they relate to increasing earned revenue through corporate sponsorships and ticket sales; 

o Experience in social media, e-mail marketing, publicity and direct mail   

o Be a highly -motivated self-starter with strong computer skills and experience with MS Office, multiple social media platforms, Google Docs, Robly,, WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite, and QuickBooks;  

 o CRM and / or Donor Management software experience a plus.  

o Exhibit a strong work ethic, as well as the flexibility to deal with unpredictable opportunities and minimal staff support.   

o Be able communicate clearly, succinctly and write persuasively to represent RKDC.  

o Demonstrate a passion for dance and connections to the Wichita cultural community.  

o Ability to work evenings, weekends, and/or special events as needed, as well as tour domestically and in some cases internationally with the company;
