●       Have a working knowledge of multi-line phones and computers - much of what advisors do is make outbound phone calls to interested parties, and take inbound calls for the whole school as well as prospective students. Our student information system is internet based, and we receive inquiries via email or even through social media outlets.

●       Effectively manages all inquiries in accordance with standard operating procedures and best practices.

●       Schedule tours for prospective students as well as schedule Financial Aid appointments.

●       Field questions about the different programs we offer, as well as give tours to prospective students.

●       Responsible for keeping up with prospective students - this can include weekly check-ins, follow-ups to Financial Aid appointments or tours, text messaging, email, orientation or appointment reminders.

●       Have thorough note-taking skills - details are paramount in this job. In order to assist the student with their decision, an advisor must not only be able to actively listen to their students, but ask questions formulated to get specific answers, and keep meticulous notes so that anyone who reads them can know what is going on with that student.

●       Achieves enrollment and activity goals on an ongoing basis and acts professionally, ethically, and with integrity in all activities in the course of employment with Caris College.

●       Maintains a thorough knowledge of and complies with all applicable campus, state, and federal regulations and policies for Admissions.

●       Must be able to work well with people in different departments, and communicate effectively with them. Must be able to report to the Director of Admissions with student updates, student issues, or financial aid statuses.

●       Be available for travel - a part of admissions is being able to attend college fairs at high schools around the area, sometimes up to an hour away.

●       Have problem-solving skills - our students can be difficult at times and come from challenging backgrounds. Advisors should be able to help students work through issues to see the bigger picture, and ethically make the best choice.

●       Must maintain acceptable rating on the Admissions Experience Survey.

●       Work copier/printer unit - there are mundane tasks such as creating prospective student folders with admissions paperwork, scanning over enrollment fees, and using a fax machine.

●       Have flexibility - there may be times where admissions covers the front desk, or has to take a walk-in tour.

●       Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the position include:

●    Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

●    Three years related experience.

●    An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

●    Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.

●    Basic knowledge of financial aid programs and procedures.

●    Proficient knowledge of all campus, state and federal regulations and policies applicable to the position.

●    Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.

●    Ability to maneuver about the facilities in order to give tours to prospective students and families.
