The Sushi Department Lead will establish a professional relationship with the Store Manager, Kitchen Manager and FOH Department Lead to ensure the sushi department runs smoothly. They are trained chefs, responsible for making sushi from scratch, quickly and accurately. It requires strong teamwork, effective communication, understanding the guest’s needs and the ability to multitask under pressure. They are responsible for training other sushi chefs, assisting with hiring and discipline and general management of the sushi department.

We’re looking for leaders to foster collaboration and teamwork to complete goals, while learning what it takes to operate a department from the ground up.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Department Lead at Bento Kitchen + Sushi, or two years as a kitchen manager or sushi chef
  • Must have sushi experience
  • Completely cross-trained in all departments
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college diploma preferred 
  • Customer service skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Stand, sit; talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Able to maintain a clean and professional appearance
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to hear the guests needs, see opportunities to delight our guests and speak with clarity and confidence
  • Must be able to stand or walk up to 12+ hours at a time
  • Eagerness to continue learning and growing
